Causes of heating and damage to motor bearings
In the previous topic, we talked about the influence of assembly process, tolerance fit, lubrication, stator and rotor air gap, shaft current, rotor slot inclination, axial force and other factors on motor bearings. Today our topic is for some special factors. Impact Analysis.
Special Factors Affecting Motor Bearing System Problems
(1) Poor heat dissipation conditions
For most small motors, the end cover does not necessarily have heat dissipation ribs, but for large-size motors, the heat dissipation ribs on the end cover are particularly important for the control of bearing temperature; for some small motors with increased capacity, the heat dissipation of the end cover is also improved. Further improve the temperature of the bearing system.
(2) Bearing system control of vertical motor
We talked about the assembly control requirements of vertical motor bearings in previous tweets. If the size deviation or the wrong direction of the assembly itself will cause the motor bearings to fail to operate under normal working conditions, it will inevitably lead to bearing noise and heat.
(3) Bearing heating under high-speed and heavy-load conditions
For high-speed motors with large loads, bearings with relatively high accuracy should be selected to avoid problems due to insufficient bearing accuracy. If the size consistency of the rolling elements of the bearing is not good, when the motor is running under load, due to the inconsistent force on each rolling element, there will be problems of natural vibration and wear of the bearing. In this process, metal chips may fall off and affect the operation of the bearing. Aggravate the occurrence and damage of bearings.
Especially for high-speed motors, due to the structure of the motor itself, the rotation of the shaft may be relatively small, and the possibility of deflection of the shaft during operation is high. Therefore, for high-speed motors, the material of the shaft is often required. Adjustment.
(4) The shrink-fit process of large motor bearings is not suitable
For small motors, the bearings use more cold pressing processes, while for large motors and high-voltage motors, more bearing heating processes are used. There are two heating methods, one is oil heating, and the other is induction heating. If the temperature control is not Well, when the temperature is too high, the bearing performance will fail, and after the motor runs for a period of time, there will be noise and heat problems.
(5) Deformation and cracks in end cover bearing chamber and bearing sleeve
This problem mostly occurs in the casting parts of large motors. Since the end cover is a typical plate-shaped part, large deformation may occur during the casting process and the processing process. Some motors have cracks in the bearing chamber during the storage process. It leads to noise or even fatal sweep quality problems during the operation of the motor.
For the bearing system problem, there may be other uncertain factors. The reasonable matching of bearing parameters and motor parameters is the most effective way to improve. For this aspect, some bearing manufacturers are already doing it, especially for brands with relatively high quality. Some good bearing manufacturers have also matured through the matching modeling rules of motor load and operating characteristics. These relatively fine improvements will effectively reduce the problems of the motor bearing system.
