4: JIS SKD8 steel mechanical properties
The mechanical properties mainly include tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, area or reduction, hardness, impact value, non-metalic inclusion etc. Different heat treatment, the mechanical properties will be different, such as normalized, tempered, QT. 6: Heat treatment
Hot-working treatment : 900-1100 ºC
Annealing : temperature 820-870 ºC, holding time 2-4h, slow cooling to about 500 ºC, air cooling out of the furnace.
Quenching | salt bath furnace: 1010 / ºC
Quenching | controlled atmosphere furnace: 1020/ ºC
Tempering temperature / ºC : 550
After tempering hardness HRC or higher: 60
7: Delivery condition
For hot forged or hot rolled bar, usually the delivery condition is hot forged or rolled, annealed, rough turned.
For hot forged plate, usually the delivery condition is hot forged, annealed, milled surface.
For hot rolled plate, usually the delivery condition is hot rolled, annealed, black surface.
