Two Round Rock restaurants failed their health inspection in April, according to reports from the Williamson County and Cities Health District.

Chuy's received a score of 46 on April 27 and the Bambo Garden received a score of 47 on April 17. A restaurant fails a health inspection if it receives a score of 30 points or more. Each infraction is scored differently. The first failed inspection includes a follow-up by the county health district that restaurants either pass or fail. Any restaurants that have failed an inspection twice within 12 months are forced to close for two days and pay a fine.
This was the first failed inspection for Chuy's within the past 12 months. Its violations included food debris on the floor, dumpsters outside the rear entrance without drain plugs, employees handling food with bare hands and improperly washing their hands.
The investor also saw insulation used as nesting material near a bait box and spring-loaded traps with exposed bait in a dry storage area. In the report, the investor said the restaurant has an ongoing pest control problem.
Representatives from Chuy's did not return calls for comment.

This was the first inspection the Bamboo Garden failed in a 12-month period. The inspector's report does not mention any problems with cleanliness, how the food was handled or pests. The restaurant has to apply for a permit to reflect its name change and to update its ownership to reflect it is a limited liability company.
The manager for the restaurant, who would not give his name, said it failed the inspection because its food handlers certificate was not on location.
