Despite its known flaws, the telescopic fork is the benchmark for the suspension system used on most motorbikes. Now, a new system is being developed for touring models, which was first developed by British engineer Norman Hossack in 1970.

However, CFMOTO, a Chinese brand that is becoming increasingly prominent in the global market, is also developing this system used by BMW and Honda. The brand has filed a patent application for a front end that is very similar to the BMW Duolever, a replica of the old Hossack system with a fork and a single shock absorber.
