Tomball, TX–based APS Plastics is a full-service manufacturer of custom plastic, metal, and composite components. It supplies precision-machined parts to the oil and gas, aerospace, medical, food processing, and electronics industries. The privately-held company has been in business for 15 years and has 10 employees.
MDS said that the company’s extensive machining capabilities were a key factor in deciding to acquire the assets of APS. Through the deal, MDS has taken ownership of six CNC lathes and five CNC mills, which will be utilized to machine Pektron PEEK, Texron PTFE, and other thermoplastics into finished components.
MDS provides high-performance molded and machined thermoplastic components with advanced sealing solutions from a range of thermoplastic polymers for critical service applications in the oil and gas and semiconductor markets. MDS also provides Petroz FFKM, FKM, and TFE/P elastomer seals and electrical connectors.
Commenting on the acquisition, Matt Jorgensen, General Manager, Machining Center, said that MDS can now go from “resin to finished components with the ability to perform turning and complex milling operations, allowing MDS to be even more competitive with pricing and shorter lead times on finished parts.”
