TEMPE, AZ — Tempe Town Lake reopened for water recreation activities on Monday afternoon. The temporary closure was announced on Friday, March 24.

According to the city, the closure was emitted after the recent storms and “snowpack” of this winter- which caused an increase of debris to float downstream into Tempe Town Lake. Coastal Adcp Buoy

The lake is now open and guests are advised to respect the buoy line that has been set in place. “A temporary buoy line has been installed approximately 500 feet upstream of the lake dam. Lake users should not cross buoy lines as inflows continue to enter Tempe Town Lake during this runoff season. Although Tempe staff may be performing necessary operations in the area between the two buoy lines and up to the pedestrian bridge, these areas remain closed to the public. Staff will continue to monitor lake debris and flows to ensure safety as SRP flows subside, read a press release sent to ABC15.
