Urge Dollarama to Stop Selling Vile Glue Traps Dollarama to Stop Selling Vile Glue Traps| PETA

The use of glue traps is a barbaric, indiscriminate method of killing animals. Despite the growing number of retailers that are pulling glue traps from their shelves, Dollarama—Canada’s most frequented dollar store, with over 1,400 locations across the country—still won’t commit to dropping them. We need your help to urge it to stop selling these vile devices.

Small animals who scurry across or land on a glue trap can easily become stuck in its sticky adhesive. The terrified animals quickly panic and try to escape, but this often causes them to rip out chunks of their own skin, fur, or feathers—some even chew off their own limbs trying to free themselves! Sometimes, their faces become stuck in the glue and they slowly suffocate to death. Others suffer for days before eventually dying from blood loss, exhaustion, injury, shock, or dehydration. Wildlife such as mice and rats may be small, but they can feel pain, fear, and stress just like the cats and dogs with whom we share our homes. Torturing and killing animals because they are viewed as “pests” is a form of speciesism—a human-supremacist worldview. Multi Catch Mouse Trap

These traps are also unsafe for consumers. Animals stuck in the glue continue to produce urine and feces, increasing humans’ risk of contracting diseases, such as hantavirus. For this reason, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns against the use of glue traps.

Hundreds of retailers and other entities have banned the sale and use of glue traps—including Walmart Canada, Dollar Tree Canada, Rossy, and Target—after hearing from PETA and our members and supporters.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?” READ MORE
