Here are 10 small(ish) used 4x4s for under £10k we found this week | Top Gear

Diminutive in stature but brave at heart, could one of these cars be the perfect answer to the ‘does it all’ question?

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to the second-generation Ignis, but for £10,000 you’d really want to bag yourself a SZ5 mild-hybrid such as this one. With less than 70,000 miles racked up, this plucky adventurer still has lots left to give. Suv Cars 4x4

The Fiat Panda has the sort of charming, gutsy personality that we really appreciate in petite 4x4s. With examples going for a fraction of this week’s budget, your path to bagging a proper little mountain goat couldn't be easier.

The ascent of Dacia has been quite something, and the Duster encapsulates its methodology with aplomb. It’s not the most handsome 4x4 on this list, but it’ll do a damn good job of anything it’s tasked with. Isn’t that the point?

If you want to truly stand out from the mob of modern 4x4s, the third-generation Suzuki Jimny’s retro styling could fill the void. This particular example combines a very-un-4x4 red paintjob with Dunlop-style alloys and has had just one owner from new.

Yep, Germany has a place here and its first contribution is the BMW X1. Perhaps lacking some of the off-road acumen of its peers, the X1 could be a decent choice for urban dwellers. This one’s pretty tasty.

Robust, in every sense of the word. The Skoda Yeti was a breath of fresh air for the world’s diminutive 4x4 market when it debuted back in 2009 since it not only poses as a veritable scholar of versatility, but tugs at our heartstrings while doing so.

The Tiguan presents you with an interesting choice to make: opt for a tidier but older example, or ditch the four-wheel drive altogether and go for a high-mileage facelift. The latter also tends to come with a DSG gearbox, but is that worth the drivetrain compromise? Probably not.

As is customary with our used car lists, we like to sign off with a wildcard of sorts and this week's is very special. Born during Japan’s gilded age and well on its way to becoming a vintage trinket, the Subaru Forester is, quite possibly, all the car you’ll ever need. What are you waiting for, Christmas? Oh, right.
