Steel bar prices increase as one moves away from Nairobi where most millers are located.
Here are the average prices of deformed steel bars in Nairobi.
There are different sizes of rebars, represented as D8, D10, D12, D16, D20, D25, and D32 where D stands for diameter. The reinforcement bars are usually 40 feet long.
A spot check on various vendors has revealed the following prices:
D8 – Sh550, D10 – Sh870, D12 – Sh1,250, D16 – Sh2,250, D20 – Sh3,600, D25 – Sh5,600, D32 – Sh9,500, Binding Wire – Sh4,100 (25kg roll), Hoop Iron – Sh3,150 (20kg roll).
BRC is a welded steel mesh made of longitudinal (line wire) and transverse (cross wire) bars fused together for use in reinforcement of concrete foundations during construction.
